01 / Ask what is required
Start with the requirement, not the acronym.
If a workplace, school, licensing organization, or program requires training, ask it for the exact course name and accepted provider. “CPR” can describe several courses intended for different audiences. A course that is right for one role may not meet another role’s requirements.
02 / Clarify the audience
Who will the training prepare you to help?
Ask whether your requirement includes adults, children, infants, First Aid, or a professional-level course. Share that information when you inquire. Do not assume every CPR class includes all of these components.
03 / Choose the learning format
Know what happens before and during class.
Read the listing for any online preparation, in-person practice, skills assessment, and other completion requirements. Make sure you can complete every required component before your deadline. A general awareness session and a certification course can have different outcomes.
04 / Confirm the credential
Check before reserving your place.
- Exact course title and accepted training provider.
- Credential awarded after successful completion.
- Prerequisites and any renewal eligibility requirements.
- Class date, location, preparation, and time commitment.
- Employer acceptance and your completion deadline.
